Danger! Earthquake! are a five piece post-hardcore band based in Melbourne, Australia. Formed out of members from previous bands in Brisbane, Sydney, Canberra and Melbourne.
The band released their first single ‘Darkened Sky’ on the 27th of October 2013. This groundbreaking first single combines elements of metal, punk and hardcore whilst weaving a tapestry of melodic pianos, choirs, strings and anthem like clean vocals through the music.
Dual vocalists Allan and Vonnie seamlessly bounce from light to dark in both their lyrical message and textures. While classically inspired instrumentation cuts bold and beautiful melodies over a driving and definitively heavy rhythm section.
A goal for Danger! Earthquake! was to incorporate bold and intentional keyboard parts in their songs. Synth player Bec Embers has a virtuoso classical playing style and a grounding in traditional instrumentation such as pianos, bells and string sections that is “just way too unique to hide behind an armada of lead guitar parts” says vocalist Vonnie.
In July 2013 Danger! Earthquake! worked with producers Shane Edwards & Dave Petrovic at Electric Sun Studio’s (Sienna Skies, Northlane, Hellions) in Sydney to record a debut five track EP. This music was then sent to Joey Sturgis for mastering (Asking Alexandria, I See Stars, We Came As Romans).
Danger! Earthquake! put a new innovative spin on the post-hardcore genre. Striking a balance between heavy and harmonious. Forming a sound that’s extremely addictive and highly unique.
