"Nikki Jamal"
Nigar Jamal was born in Baku on 7th September 1980. Nikki, as her family calls her, began to sing at the age of 5 in a children's group. In 1996, she was recognized in the popular Azerbaijani vocal competition "Pöhrə". Despite her success, Nikki chose to concentrate on her academic studies rather than on a career in music, eventually graduating from university in 2001.
Nikki first dreamt of representing Azerbaijan in the Eurovision Song Contest back in 2000, when she saw the popular Russian singer Alsu finish in second place with her song "Solo". During the following decade, she moved to London to be with her husband Luke and happily had two lovely daughters, Jasmin and Saida.
Last year Nikki and her family moved to Baku, where she was finally able to fulfil her dream of singing for Azerbaijan. On 11th February, in the final of the "Milli Seçim Turu" show, Nigar was announced as one of the representatives of Azerbaijan in the Eurovision Song Contest 2011.
