Nota Amara is a melodic progressive metal band, which united Alexander Bryl (guitars) and Natalia Kononova (vocals) and also invited musicians such as Dmitry Returns (Narwhal Tusk). The band is based in Novocherkassk, Rostov Region, Russia. It was highly praised by the critics of progmetalzone.com: " Progressive Symphonic Metal (no mistaking where these guys are from! Very classically influence progressive metal featuring the huskily dramatic (and very Russian) vocals from Natalia Kononova. Great use of piano really brings out the progressive elements of this unique and very cool band.)".At the moment the band has finished the production of their debut album "At the Line" in Bass-Drum studio. All the recording, mixing and mastering was performed by Dmitry Returns, Rostov-on-Don. At present the album is self-released via the Internet, but the band is currently planning to cooperate with recording labels. Line-up based problems are currently stopping the band from touring with the album, so the musicians are busy writhing the material for their next record. The ideas that are translated through the album will bring new colors to Russian progressive music as well as to other genres, as musicians hope. Main ideologist of the band, Alexander, states: "we plan on releasing the album and touring with it. I expect long serious work and I'm ready to do so". The band is intensely working with graphic designer NadejdaKibisheva, who creates visual design of the band's works.
Nota Amara's style is characterized by a thrilling female vocals, fast lead guitar parts, melodic keyboard arrangements and irregular musical form. All the tracks are conceptually united lyric wise, and also with the overall material unity, performance quality and implementation of creative musical decisions.
"Whatever happens we will follow our goal - making interesting music that inspires" - says Alexander and Natalia. Alexander is a perspective guitarist and a progressive songwriter of Nota Amara who writes complex-signature music full of form varieties and arrangements. He took part in many festivals across Rostov Region. His most distinguishing features are self-criticism, nonstandard use of musical forms combined with deep forethought and atmosphere of his songs.
Natalia Kononova is the lyric writher and ideologist of the band. Also she is in charge of public relations of the band. Her vocals are characterized by use of 'clean' manner combined with classical singing with the use of her full vocal range. She is a repeated participant of a variety of vocal competitions from local to international level ("Southern Star"), where she was the winner of various degrees.Responsible attitude to creative process, desire to create unusual music, creative potential and commitment joined Alexander and Natalia in Nota Amara.
