Hearts of Palm

why is my heart 
in the palm of a life that gets away 
before the sun reaches high enough 
that the shadows are not there? 

terrified before the joy 
give in to life is such a joy 
you capture this and you won't let it go 
no you won't let it go 
but if you squeeze real hard 
it's gonna slip out before you know 
that this life that will tickle everything 
it's life and that's all it wants to be 
the crater on the moon is not the same 
as the crater deep in me 
yeah a kite is high, and so am i 
the fruit is gonna rip 
right though my veins 
and right through my heart of steel 
that's not really made out of steel
