Bill Callahan was born in Silver Spring Maryland Callahan came lo-fi genre of underground with home-made tape-albums recorded on four burners track tape later, he signed a record deal with label Drag City
Callahan started out as a highly experimental artist who uses substandard instruments and tachograph His reasons for using lo-fi approach was not so much an aesthetic choice, but it came from his lack of knowledge of recording studios and the fear of giving up control to professional engineers
His later work saw him overcome his fear of studios and producers and during this period he recorded two albums with the influential producer Jim O'Rourke and musicians draw circles around the city, and saidmarbetet with the similar-minded Neil Hagerty
His songs are based on simple repetitive structures strikingly characterized by his baritone singing his lyrics are often revolve around themes of spiritual seekers and the complex emotions with the help of subtlety and dark irony in the classical sense is also a broad swathe of joy throughout Callahan's work (and a remarkable obsession with horses, which he shares with Will Oldham) He is a keen storyteller with simple words to project large and deep echoing stories
