There's been trouble on the farm
I don't mind telling it
Real estate developers are trying to force us into selling it
All of my neighbors are already gone
All around me now are office plazas and suburban lawns

Some people say I get in the way of progress
So be it
There's trouble ahead for those that who let themselves be led
If they'd open their eyes they would see it

Suburbanites have fled the city and leave behind the poor
They don't understand if they keep on moving in there won't be any space no more
There comes a time in each man's life he must make a stand
For this ain't real estate, this is fertile land
